In today’s world, overpopulation has been quite a chaos in many nations, especially in developing ones in Asia and Africa. Once the population growth is out of control, many problems will arise such as unemployment, pollution and shortage of national resources. Therefore, it is cardinal for these nations’ governments to take over the reins of overcrowding in their local areas.

Citizens are the country’s main workforce, hence the lawmakers should lay down policies that harmonizes between maintaining national labor force in reasonable number and keeping the population in check, depending on the nation’s conditions. It is recommendable for most countries to apply the family planning policy that allows married couple can only have no more than two children, and the parents will be punished financially in case of law violation. China is a big and populous country hence its population growth is supervised by its government with the one-child policy, which turns out to be a success and helps the nation’s law and order and economic development under control.

Moreover, there should be campaigns that spread social awareness of this issue throughout the country as civilians will be taught about how the outcome of overcrowding affects the country as well as their own life. Once people understand that overpopulation is the root of higher crime rate, pollution and unemployment in their territory, they will be more willing and easily come to terms with the imposed family planning policy. Last but not least, sex education should be taught in school or at an social event in the local so that everyone, especially the youngsters, gets to know how to handle birth control with suitable medical treatments (for example, using contraceptives).

In other words, overpopulation is a large scale and difficult task in poor countries that causes poverty and weakens citizen’s life standard, however, it is not impossible to tackle. In my opinion, the governments should impose strict birth control policy and hold campaigns raising social awareness about the matter.
